Arkivum is pleased to announce that Princeton University Library has selected Arkivum Perpetua to deliver cloud-based digital preservation and safeguarding services supporting its world-renowned records and collections.
The Arkivum Perpetua solution will help Princeton University Library address the challenges of managing the growing amount of born-digital content, all in a variety of file formats and policies. These challenges are coupled with strict security requirements for handling personal data such as student records and complex user access policies dictated by the university information governance policies.

The requirements to manage Princeton University Library’s unique digital assets were defined and reviewed by a committee with representatives from the library, university archives and IT department. The requirements included, among others, a multi cloud deployment architecture and a data escrow model to ensure vendor independence.
Arkivum Perpetua will be deployed on top of Princeton’s Amazon Web Services and Microsoft Azure cloud environments and embedded within its technology stack the industry-adopted open source tool – Archivematica, to ensure the library is fully independent of any vendor proprietary formats or workflows.
“Arkivum have been very responsive to our needs and presented the most comprehensive solution to support the long-term preservation of Princeton’s digital records and archives”, says Jon Stroop, Director of Library IT and Digital Services at Princeton University.
“We’re very excited to finally have a digital preservation solution in place. Once Arkivum’s Perpetua is fully implemented, we plan to continue to work with Arkivum to create further reports and bring new data into our workflows”, adds Alexis Antracoli, Assistant University Archivist for Technical Services at Princeton University.
Yaron Naor, VP & GM Americas at Arkivum says, “It’s very satisfying to be able to deliver a solution that meets Princeton University requirements; the team at Princeton are forward thinkers and our partnership will support them as they deliver on the promise of digital preservation.”
Princeton University will be hosting Arkivum’s next customer event in North America this coming April. If you would like more information about our North America based events, please get in touch.
